Is the Church Age Over? Where is the Power?

Maybe as we know it… or hopefully

Churches right now lose an estimated 2,765,000 people each year to nominalism, secularism and Islam and other cults…. Years ago things were closed on Sundays not only of respect to God, but also because stores did not do any business because everyone was in church and not shopping. Things have shifted.

An average of 1400 pastors are leaving the ministry MONTHLY due moral failure, spiritual burnout and contention with other churches… As a result, over 10,000 churches disappeared in the last 5 year period (as off 2022, it may be worse today) …. While 277 mosques are being built every year, satanism and other cults are growing year after year and rather than ask why and evaluate ourselves and how we are doing and representing the Church, we continue doing what clearly is not working.

I need to be straightforward, and I realize that that may offend some, but a lack of straightforwardness is part of what got us here in the first place so I’ll state first that I love the church, it is (or should be) a representation of the Kingdom of God on this earth and it’s the one thing that Jesus said that He is building while He’s here. But, He said that He’s building His church, and He’s building it up upon the revelation that He is the Christ; and that is the Church that the gates of hell (hades) will not prevail against. I believe that this is what has been lost in today’s church is the teaching of the revelation that Jesus is the Christ, the King of kings, the Lord of lords and the Son of the living God.

Why do I say this? Because for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. As Pastors endeavor to reach more people with programs, events and sideshows that attract people, they are attracting people and fulfilling their need for child services, youth events, weekly activities, counseling and even the need to feel good about feeding the hungry, clothing the poor and handing out gifts to underprivileged kids. Don’t hear what I am not saying because all these things are good and are needed and should be done, but they are not the focus of the Church. Jesus, His disciples and the Apostles did not focus on these; in fact when someone commented that the perfume poured on Jesus’ feet could have been sold and given to the poor, He replied that He will not always be present and the poor you will always have, so where are you pouring your oil? Where is your focus as a Pastor or leader?

Is your Church focused more on outward appearances so you can look and be cool, relevant and attractive to newcomers and onlookers? Because most are and do not even realize it. They have turned church into a spectator event and substituted the Anointing for a pseudo spiritual programs; and all while souls are coming in the doors they are not getting saved, set free, healed and transformed and as a result it’s produced a spiritual famine that sets people still searching because while their soul is feeling good, their spirit is never fulfilled.

As I write this I realize that maybe this should be a video for all to see and maybe it will be, it will be at least a chapter in my new volume of The Kingdom, the Power & The Glory series, because not only Pastors and leaders, but every Christian needs to know that every place in ministry, life and society that we back up from, don’t fully occupy, or take for the Kingdom of God will be taken by the enemy. There is your equal and opposite reaction.

Jesus said that He is building a Church, an Ecclesia, literally a form of government here on this earth in which He is the Lord and King (Mat 16:15-18). A Government that supersedes all the laws, boundaries, limits and understanding of this world and that we should seek this first, before anything else (Mat 6:33). By what He was about to do on the cross, He fulfilled His purpose and destroyed the works of the enemy (1 Jn 3:8) and made everyone righteous enough to be a part and benefactor of it and as a result you are given keys to both heaven and earth (Mat 16:19) and authority & power of ALL the power of the enemy (Lk 10:19) and through this He has come for this reason (Lk 4:43) to build His Church (His Kingdom on earth) and to let everyone know about it!

And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease (Mat 10:1) … He later charged them to Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give (Mat 10:8). And in His final Words to them (Mat 28: 19-20) He Said “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

I’ve just summarized the entire function of each and everyone of us as Christians and especially the Church as a representation of this Kingdom (You are its representative).

Why are churches closing? Why are Pastors getting burned out and yielding themselves and their ministries to a compromised, earthly system? Why is there no power in today’s church (as a whole)? Because we have gotten away from the foundational truth and principal understanding that Jesus is the Christ (The Anointed One) and He alone is the King of the Kingdom who rules sovereign and supreme and that we are to be a representative of Him in all we do,. And not only that, but if we really want people overflowing in the Church then teach that and display that in all we do and everywhere we go. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give and they will be breaking down the doors and tearing open the roofs just to get into the place!

Let me close by saying that I believe with all my heart that while many churches will fail, and many will close, God is looking for Leaders and Churches who will trade off public influence for Power, those without the traditional mindset who are willing to be new wineskins and willing to step up to the forefront of the Kingdom and truly Occupy (rule, reign and advance the Kingdom) until He comes!
